Dear Dr. Piazza,
On behalf of the 15 million American Children and adults who face the
daily challenges of learning disabilities, we thank you for your recent
gift.
The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) is working hard
to increase opportunities for all individuals with learning disabilities
to achieve their potential. And the people we serve inspire our work – motivated,
creative people such as the sixth grader with learning disabilities who
entered the poem below in our annual National Art and Poetry Competition.
“I Can”
I know how to read
And rap the ABC’s
I can succeed and
Learn any deed
I can write a rhyme
In a minute of time
Reading is great
Don’t try and debate
Your gift is helping NCLD serve tens of thousands of parents through
our award-winning web sites by giving them accurate information on research,
instructional solutions, and legal rights…promote early literacy
skills through Get Ready to Read!, our national screening program…and
give children’s advocates a powerful voice to improve public policy
and legislation affecting individuals with LD. With your help, we are
making the words “I Can” a reality for more individuals.
Thank you again for your generous support!
Sincerely,
James H. Wendorf
