Enclosed is a copy of our Christmas Party “Big Board Donors” in the Jan./Feb. issue of The Informant newspaper. Your donation was part of a prize drawing only sworn police officers are eligible to enter.

The Big Board Donors are printed on a large sign-board and placed on an easel next to the stage. We award nearly 200 prizes, but only Big Board winners are announced from the stage and come to the stage to collect their prize. One of the two winners, Patrol Sgt. Randy Levitt, was so excited he ran up the stairs and was literally jumping up and down.

We hold our annual SDPOA Toy Drive in conjunction with the Christmas Party. This year the Toy drive was renamed The Jerry Griffin Memorial Toy Drive. Jerry was our motorcycle officer who was struck by a motorist on April 15th, 2003 and died on April 25th. He was an integral part of the toy drive for the past 10 years.

Each officer brings a wrapped toy and a non-perishable food item to the party. Everything is sorted and divided into allotments for our nine Division Toy Drive Reps to distribute to needy families.
