I read a story about a sculpture from the Orient. Beautifully crafted, it was a carving of a woman donning a headdress. On top of the headdress was a ball, carved in a flawless manner with an extremely intricate, lacy design. One look at the ball and one may think, “Oh, how pretty!” But looking more closely, one sees that inside that ball is another sphere, just as intricately designed as the first. Looking further, inside the second sphere is another, and again, every bit as flawless and intense. No one knows how many spheres are inside this sculpture, because they keep going, until you can no longer see through the carved holes to reveal another complex carving. The truly impressive thing about this sculpture is that it was created over a hundred years ago and was hand carved from a solitary piece of ivory. The artist did not have to put such attention to detail on the smaller orbs because they could easily be covered by the outer ones. Yet he persisted and the result was a perfect, irreplaceable and absolutely breathtaking piece of art. He knew that it is not just the outside that counts, but everything that goes into the sculpture. So what is my point? My point is to say that Front Sight Firearms Training Institute demonstrates similar values as the artist from the Orient. Founder and director, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, fully understands that it is not just what people see that matters, but everything that goes into the entire company.
As students of Front Sight, we see the obvious things, like the amazing handgun training, rifle training, automatic weapons training and shotgun training. We see that Ignatius Piazza puts extra effort into his gun training program by providing personalized gun training. We see the caliber of the Front Sight gun training instructors and recognize that they are literally second to none. We see the friendly and caring attitudes of the entire Front Sight staff. However, we do not see the things that go on behind the scenes that assist in making Front Sight the number one gun training school in the world. Things like how Ignatius Piazza treats his staff, how he spends countless hours perfecting every minor detail in his curriculum, how the gun training instructors participate in ongoing firearms training and customer service training so that their skills never waver, and how even Ignatius Piazza himself continues to study and learn the most cutting edge gun training ideas and techniques. When shortcuts are taken behind the scenes, it spills over into what the audience sees and ends up disappointing.
