Gun Training: Do I Always Have to Use a Gun?

What is your stance on gun training? When I talk about gun training with various people, I often get responses such as, “I do not think I should get gun training because a gun is not needed in all self defense situations.” I think this is where many people get confused about gun training. Dr. Ignatius Piazza, the founder and director of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, does not train you to always use a gun in every situation, no questions asked. In fact, part of Front Sight’s curriculum is when to use a gun and when to NOT use a gun for self defense. For example, if someone grabs your arm while you pass them on the sidewalk, Ignatius Piazza has self defense techniques to help you get out of this situation. But if someone grabs your child and holds a gun to his head, threatening to shoot, having a gun on hand and knowing how to quickly, safely and precisely use it could be a positive thing for you and your child.

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight, the world’s best place to get gun training, teach that you should only use a gun if you absolutely have to. The gun training program at Front Sight teaches ways to get out of using a gun, such as empty hands self defense training. You will learn how to disarm your attacker, how to use your own body as a self defense weapon and how to actually avoid using your gun. However, should you need to use your gun to protect yourself or to protect your loved ones, Ignatius Piazza will teach you the ways to safely do it, AND he will also teach you other aspects of gun use, such as the legal side of things to protect yourself after the fact.

It is good to know how to use a gun for self defense, even if you never end up having to use your skills. You never know whether or not you will have to use one, so isn’t it better to be prepared? Tons of people get CPR Training and First Aid Training every year. How many of those people actually have to use their acquired skills? However, when I witnessed the aftermath of a motorcycle accident on the street a couple years ago, I was so glad that I knew first aid… and so was the victim. Likewise, we hope to never have to use a gun to protect our own lives or the lives of our loved ones. But if there is a burglar in the house, holding onto a family member across the room, wouldn’t it be good to have a background of gun training… especially from the world’s top gun training school, and from a highly experienced Four Weapons Combat Master like Dr. Ignatius Piazza?

The hope is that we never have to use a gun for protection. But in the event that it happens, aren’t you thankful that you know you and your loved ones are safe? Front Sight will prepare you now so you can be thankful later.
