Say someone were to break into your house. What thought would you rather have in your head:

I love Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. I get a huge kick out of talking about it, writing about it and talking about it some more. It is kind of like an obsession of mine, as I am sure you are aware. The way I see it is this: Learning self defense is extremely important. I want people to get the best self defense training possible. I do not want to rave about a sub par self defense training place. Thus, I speak of Front Sight. Front Sight is more than a gun training school. Dr. Ignatius Piazza, the man that founded and now directs Front Sight, offers all types of self defense training, from knife training to empty hands self defense training, like martial arts.
All though I seriously believe gun training is very, very important, especially if you wish to own a gun or someone in your home owns a gun, I also believe that other types of self defense training are just as crucial. There are places (too many of them) that do not allow someone to carry a gun. So, us, as law abiding citizens, obey what we are told and do not carry a gun to those places, right? Well, then there are bad guys. These bad guys do not seem to care that the law says they cannot do it, and they bring the guns in anyway. So what do we do if we encounter someone who is carrying a gun and we don’t have one?
There are other places where it is extremely difficult to sneak a gun into, but these bad guys we speak of are likely to be prepared to fight. An example of a place like this: an airplane. Post 9-11, it is super difficult to get a nail file or a bottle of water on board, much more a handgun. What’s the bad guy going to do? Approach the pilot and say, “Sir, would you mind if I take over flying this here plane? I’ve got a mountain to crash into and I am really running out of time.” ?? Or maybe he will just simply say to you, “Hi. I’d like to have your wallet now. Okay, thanks!” (…as you hand it to him?) Right. These guys are going to fight. So what do you do if someone tries to fight you? Can you protect yourself and your family?

Some people ask me how or why I keep talking about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. They hear about what an advocate I am and look up my name on the Internet and then are baffled at how much I write about the gun training school. They wonder that… but I wonder the opposite. Why would I WANT to shut up about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute? Even if I wanted to, how could I?
Think about the things that are most important to you. Your new relationship, your kids, your job, your favorite hobby. How much do you talk about them? My friends know that I do not ever stop telling stories about my family. My coworkers hear all about my boyfriend. Likewise, my boyfriend is probably annoyed at how much I rave about my job and my coworkers. These are the things that are important to me. But there is another thing that I have found extremely important, and that is Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. It is a place where people from all walks of life, all ages and both genders can go to procure the best self defense training and gun training in the world, preparing them for situations where self defense will be needed in real life. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, a gun training school in Pahrump, Nevada founded by Dr. Ignatius Piazza, changed my life. About an hour outside of Las Vegas, Front Sight rests on a plot of land that spans about five hundred fifty acres. We drove down the dirt road and went through the front gates, pretty interested to see what was about to happen. I knew Front Sight was going to be cool. I had done research on it for, literally, years, and had finally made the decision to get myself out to take a Four Day Defensive Handgun Training Course. I was with a friend, and we were excited. From my research, Front Sight had appeared to be an effective gun training school that focused on gun safety, balancing shooting speed with accuracy, self defense training for real life scenarios and learning a lot while having fun. Needless to say, my expectations were pretty high.
I got my belt on and my holster strapped to my belt and then the guy helping me put my gun in my holster. I guess you could say I felt kind of cool while we walked to the lecture hall. I mean, I was a chick with a gun on my hip. But then again, I felt totally intimidated. I had never carried a gun before. I didn’t even know how to load it. We sat down in the Front Sight lecture hall. Looking around, it was apparent that we were two of the youngest people there. There was a huge variety of ages, sizes, types of look, accents, men and women… but I felt even more intimidated then, noticing that I was definitely one of the smallest females in the room.
A man got up to the front of the room and started talking. I was hooked on what he was saying. Before I knew it, the lecture was over and we were about to go to the gun training shooting range. Is it weird that I was so interested in the lecture that I wanted to stay and listen to the guy talk some more? I quickly found that that thought process became familiar, as the lectures at Front Sight are absolutely extraordinary.
Over the next few days, Ignatius Piazza’s team of gun training instructors took me from scared and apprehensive to confident and competent. They taught me anything and everything I could imagine about gun training and then taught me things I never would have even thought about. Ignatius Piazza’s curriculum at Front Sight is amazing! In just four days, I went from not even being able to load a gun to being able to diagnose and clear a type three malfunction in under six seconds. I went from not knowing how to hold a gun to being able to present my weapon faster than most of the people in my class. I went from being afraid to shoot to being able to hit a target spot on. I learned that it didn’t matter how small I am or how little experience I had previously had. I can be just as fast, just as good and just as effective with a gun as the buff, more experienced shooters. Front Sight works.
At the end of my four day gun training course at Front Sight, I thought about what I had previously learned about Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza. Let me tell you, I had HIGH EXPECATIONS. Those expectations were nothing compared to what I experienced at Front Sight. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is truly a place that you have to see to believe.

In 1988, a successful chiropractor had his life twist turned upside down. His business was doing well and he had a family to love and protect. He worked hard at everything he did, and as a result, he seemed to have the Midas touch. But then suddenly, in the stillness of the night, his world was ripped into by a few flying bullets. It was that night that the random drive by shooting shook Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s world. He was hit, luckily not physically with bullets, but those bullets struck deep inside his psyche and hit a nerve that opened his eyes to a realization that will sit with him for a lifetime.
At the time, Ignatius Piazza owned guns and knew how to use them. He was a pretty good shot and knew how to handle a gun safely. But the realization that he came to was that his guns were useless… because he did not know how to use them in a life threatening situation. He did not know how to use a gun to save his family. He did not know how to use a gun to save his own life. Basically, he knew how to use a gun except in the one time that it was actually important: to defend a life.
He began studying about self defense and guns and began getting some gun training. He found it difficult to find a gun training school that was really, really good, though. Some gun training schools had this, but they lacked that. Some had that, but they lacked this. Some just didn’t have this or that. But somehow, through hard work, time, research and a ton of dedication, Ignatius Piazza got the gun training he needed to be proficient. He knew how to effectively use a gun for self defense. Since Ignatius Piazza had done a huge amount of gun training and shooting practice, he knew the work that would be required of someone if that person wanted to get the same level of gun training he had. Given the sub par gun training schools that were out there, it was going to be difficult for just about anyone. He also worried that people would attend a gun training school that claimed to be “good” and they would end up with so-so gun training. Or worse, what if they ended up with ineffective gun training? Unfortunately, between me going to school and working and him having a job out of state, we never found the time for him to teach me. Then I found out about Front Sight. He was well educated and trained, had a huge amount of hours of shooting under his belt, has trained experts in the field of shooting, was the second man in the world to receive his Four Weapons Combat Master Certificate AND he donates to charity. I liked him and figured he was worth looking into a bit more. So I researched Front Sight and found that they have at least doubled in size every year since opening in 1996. Military personnel and law enforcement officers have raved about how great Ignatius Piazza’s gun training is. They train everyone, from complete beginners to competitive shooters. Front Sight is recognized as the greatest gun training school in the world. AND they offer great deals and discounts.
Needless to say, I was sold.
My experience at Front Sight exceeded my expectations… by a huge degree of increase. Front Sight was bigger, better and way more exciting than I had thought. My research was pretty good, but it did not give this gun training school enough credit. I was completely astonished at the gun training provided at Front Sight by Ignatius Piazza and his team of gun training instructors. They taught me more than I thought I could have learned, and in just a few days, I was shooting better than people I know who have been shooting for several years. What is more, is I know that I am definitely not alone in my opinion of Front Sight.
I know several people who have attended Front Sight in the past. I found out about this by just talking about Front Sight with random people. I mentioned the school and got the response of, “Hey! I went there!” All of these people agree about the caliber of Front Sight’s gun training: that it’s the best. I chatted a bit with the students in my first gun training course at Front Sight. Everyone there was astounded at what they were learning. When I say everyone, I mean literally everyone. I did not get one review that was less than being in utter amazement.

There was a poster sized paper pinned up against the wall. On that piece of paper were three people. One person was in front, and the other two were just portions of faces hiding behind the first person. We had become familiar with this picture over the last few days. It was a typical hostage situation. The person in the front was the hostage, blocking the bad guys. We stood on the firing line, ready to practice our shooting accuracy and shoot the bad guys in the head. But it was just a paper target. No problem if we missed and hit the hostage.
The gun training instructors walked down the line of students and requested some simple information. “Give me the name of someone you love.” As each student named off names, the instructors walked up to the hostage and gave them a name tag. Now it was personal. Now it was stressful. Now it was real. If we missed… This is gun training for real life.
Feeling the stress, I raised my gun. I aimed toward the outside of the bad guy’s head, fearing that I would hit my hostage… my niece. I focused on the front sight. I pressed the trigger. I felt the surprise break and remained focused on the front sight. I let my gaze shift to the hostage to see where my bullet hit but saw no hole in the bad guy’s head. Really? I didn’t even hit the paper? Frustrated, I performed an after action drill and looked back up at the target. There it was. I had missed seeing the hole because the front sight of my gun had been blocking it from my view. I had hit EXACTLY WHERE I HAD AIMED. A bit more confident, I moved my aim a little closer to the hostage. Same thing. Exactly on target. Once more, a bit closer. Exactly on target. Dang. Four days ago, I was shooting a foot away from where I had aimed. This gun training really worked.

Right now, I am sitting in a building surrounded by about fifty or sixty other people. I know about three people here and it is dark outside… and I left my glasses in the car. I do not know the area outside very well, as I am pretty far from home. Am I scared to leave and walk through the poorly lit and well hidden parking lot, even though I don’t know these people, I don’t know the area and I can barely see outside? Nah.
Many people in my situation might be a bit apprehensive about where they were. They wouldn’t want to walk to the car by themselves, especially if they were me: a five foot three, quite timid looking female. However, I know that I got self defense gun training from some of the best shooters in the world at the world’s greatest place to receive gun training of any kind: Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. I am confident in the fact that if I (or anyone around me, for that matter) were to be attacked, I would know exactly what to do to handle the situation.
