I talk a lot about a gun training school called Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. I rave about the caliber of the school, the educated gun training instructors and the prestige of the founder, Dr. Ignatius Piazza. Front Sight is truly the best.
Tell me this. If an esteemed mathematician were to take a math course from a certain professor, what would that say about that certain professor? Probably that said person had some pretty decent math skills, to say the least. If a Nascar driver were to take a defensive driving course or a racing course from someone, that would show that the person teaching the course must be a really great driver. What about gun training? What does it say about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute and Ignatius Piazza when gun training instructors from other gun training schools choose to attend a gun training course at Front Sight? Not only that, but attend that gun training course and then talk about how impressed they are with it and brag about how much they learned? To me, that says quite a bit about Front Sight and the level of gun training provided there.
The awesome part is, is that actually happens. I have witnessed it myself. I was in a class with more than one gun training instructor, at least one law enforcement officer and at least one military guy. And every single one of them was impressed with the level of gun training provided by the Front Sight gun training instructors. One of them even told me, “Wow. I really didn’t know how much I didn’t know about gun training.” And that’s what he does for a living! That is intense.
However, if you are a beginner, before you get worried about taking a gun training course with Ignatius Piazza’s gun training instructors at Front Sight, just know that I was a complete beginner in that same course. I shared a range with military and law enforcement personnel, professional gun training instructors, hunters, advanced shooters and people aiming to become Combat Masters… and I was able to keep up with them. How??

They figured out a way to teach novices the correct way to shoot a gun the first time, while helping advanced shooters perfect their shooting skills and speed up their reaction time all in the same course. Want to know the coolest part about it? I owe it to my range master and the other gun training instructors on our range, but those guys had me presenting my weapon faster and shooting better than I ever thought possible. By the end of my four day defensive handgun training course at Front Sight, I was shooting just as accurately as some of the more advanced shooters. And I had never shot a handgun before day one.
Front Sight is a great place for beginners to receive the best quality gun training so they can learn how to be safe while handling a gun. Would you want to live in a place that has extremely low crime? Wouldn’t it feel great to feel totally safe and secure all the time? Well, imagine sitting in a room with four hundred some odd other people. Now imagine every single one of those people, including you, has a gun on his or her hip. How do you feel?
The first time I experienced this feeling was at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, and I will tell you outright that I have never felt safer in my entire life. Who, in their right mind, would walk into that room and try to rob someone, hit them or take them hostage? Similarly, who in that room would turn around and open fire on four hundred armed people? It was an incredible feeling.

Wait… you said there were four hundred other people in the room. I don’t want four hundred people in my gun training course! How will I get the attention I need?
That room that I described was the Front Sight lecture hall. Each day of your Front Sight gun training course, you will listen to a few mind blowing lectures. Before you decide that you hate lectures, just let me say that these are not your typical ones. During my Front Sight lectures, I was totally engrossed every minute of the way. Ignatius Piazza makes sure that the instructors involve the students mentally and physically, keeping them interested and assisting in their mental retention. After lecture, the group breaks up into smaller groups and each student goes to a range with about twenty other students and a few Front Sight gun training instructors.

Let’s paint the picture. It is the middle of the night and you’re in bed. You wake up to the sound of someone rummaging through your kitchen downstairs. Your kids are at a sleepover, so you know it’s not them, and your wife is sleeping soundly next to you. You keep a gun next to your bed, so you grab it. You creep down the stairs and peer into the kitchen to see a man in a mask, filling a bag with your stuff. He sees you and raises his gun. You point yours at him, pull the trigger and… no bang. You’ve got a dead trigger. Your gun just malfunctioned. Wait… guns can malfunction? Do you know what to do?
The first time my gun malfunctioned I didn’t know what just happened. Luckily, I was in my first day of my gun training course at Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s gun training school, called Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. We were just learning how to aim at a stationary target and put two bullets through the thoracic cavity of the paper man. There was no timed pressure, and I wasn’t worried about my paper man shooting back. My gun training partner, who had previously attended Front Sight, looked quickly at my gun and said, “Oh, you have a type three malfunction. Don’t worry. You are going to learn all about that and how to fix it.”
How did he KNOW that?
My Front Sight gun training instructor came over and helped me clear the malfunction and told me the same thing. Ignatius Piazza planned for this sort of thing when designing his gun training program at Front Sight.
There is NO WAY I’m going to remember all of this.
The next morning, at the Front Sight gun training range, the instructors announced that we were going to learn about the different malfunctions. They gave a quick lecture and a demonstration that made me think, “Huh? How did he do that so fast?” Step by step, we went through each gun malfunction, how to diagnose them and how to clear them.
This gun training stuff is beginning to get pretty intense. I’m starting to learn how to clear these things when the steps are being called out for us, but I don’t know if I’d be able to handle this under timed pressure in a gun fight with no one telling me what type of malfunction my gun has.
The Front Sight gun training instructors stuck with us. They didn’t give up or get frustrated when it took some of us longer to learn these difficult gun training and gun handling techniques. Ignatius Piazza really did a great job picking these guys to be Front Sight instructors. That fact was brought to life on my third day of gun training: the night gun training section.
I had my gun and my flashlight pointed in on my target. I pressed the trigger. Dead trigger. I can’t give my position away so I do what the Front Sight instructors teach: kill the light and move. Would I have been able to do what I did on day one? Heck no. But by day three, I was able to do it. I cleared that malfunction in just a few seconds… in the dark, not being able to see my gun. I stayed “alive” in that gun fight because of what Ignatius Piazza’s gun training instructors taught me.

I want to take self defense classes. I want to get gun training. I want to learn how to use a knife for self defense. I want to protect my family. I want to feel safe, even when I am alone at night. I want to learn how to save lives. These are the thoughts of many Americans. However…
How often can you choose to attend some sort of self help class and have it be tailored to your own personal needs and wants? Usually, self help classes, self defense classes and any other class that is considered “useful” to American society, have a one size fits all theme.
