In Springfield, Massachusetts, people are starting to get the hang of hearing random gunshots. The recent Springfield shootings have not been a surprise to residents. A citizen even said “When you live around here in the neighborhood you hear it a lot. A lot of stuff happens around here. You just get used to it after a while.” Apparently this week brought about the second fatal shooting in less than a month. Police have even taken extra measures to help protect the town, but citizens admit that whether or not the police get involved, violence and shooting is still going to happen, because, as some say, “people don’t care about the police.” It is sad that these people feel like gun violence is just something that they need to accept and get used to.
