I told you that Front Sight Firearms Training Institute offers competitive gun training. Do I mean that Front Sight’s rates are competitive against other gun training schools? Well, of course they are… but that’s not what I am talking about here. Do I mean that Front Sight’s gun training is way better than any other gun training school in the world? Sure it is… but that is not what I am talking about here either. I am talking about actual competitive gun training… as in gun training for competitive shooting.
In my first Four Day Defensive Handgun Training Course at Front Sight, I got to participate in a shooting competition. Many people will think that this just is not necessary; that it is training to shoot for sport rather than self defense. I thought that at first, too. But let me explain something to you.
You stand on the firing line with one other person. You each have a certain number of targets to shoot, all placed at various distances. Your goal is to knock all of the targets down before the other guy does. Sounds simple enough, right? But then you realize that you have got about twenty or so other people watching you, including three Front Sight gun training instructors that are standing almost over your shoulder, calling the shots and announcing winners… and the NOT winners. If THAT doesn’t teach you how to shoot quickly AND effectively while under stress, I don’t know what does.
Up to this point in my Front Sight gun training from Dr. Ignatius Piazza, I had only had to compete against myself. Add another person to the mix and it surely changes things. Unfortunately, I let my nerves get to me and ended up getting creamed… but it taught me a giant lesson. SHOOTING WHILE UNDER STRESS GREATLY CHANGES EVERYTHING.
I was stressed and nervous, so my presentation speed slowed, leaving me less time to beat the other guy to the shots. My hands were shaking, so my accuracy suffered, leaving me to miss my targets. I watched the other guy’s targets fall on every perfect shot, increasing my stress level and decreasing my focus. What if it had been a real gunfight? My presentation speed was slowed, leaving the bad guy more time to take me down. My accuracy was off, giving the bad guy more chances to get me. He was calm and his shots were perfect, which could have been the shots to hit me.
Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight opened my eyes to what real life self defense shooting involves. I learned first hand the way it feels to be in a gunfight, while in a safe and controlled environment, so if it were to happen in real life, I will be way more prepared than I would have been without this shooting competition. Over the rest of my gun training course, my Front Sight instructors helped me gain and keep focus, increase my confidence and reduce my stress level, so, by the end of my four days at Front Sight, my hands were firm and steady.
THAT, my friends, was severely helpful… especially in the personalized hostage situation at the end of the course… I just might feel like talking about that in The Chronicles of Front Sight: My Experience, Part Nine.

I stood on the firing line at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, waiting for the drill to start. I was about to find out how it felt to be attacked by more than one person at once. I did not know whether it was going to be two people, three people or four people. I did not know where they would be coming from or exactly which direction I was going to have to shoot. I did not know which ones were going to be stopped by a designated pair to the thoracic cavity and which ones were going to need a shot to the head, if any at all. All I knew was that I was going to have to figure out a way to stop them all.
I thought back to the lecture that the Front Sight gun training instructors had given, and the demonstrations they had done regarding multiple attackers. With a line of people watching me, I felt a bit nervous but I was going to do my best. Over the next few minutes, my shooting speed and accuracy was put to the test… but because I had paid attention to the lectures and demonstrations, I was able to do quite well in my hands on tactical gun training, even though… yeah, you guessed it… my gun malfunctioned. Twice in a row. But believe it or not, my gun training from Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s gun training instructors at Front Sight was so effective, that I was actually able to know BEFORE my gun malfunctioned.
Usually, when a gun malfunctions, the symptom happens when you press the trigger. You either get a dead trigger or a clicking trigger. At that point, you quickly check the gun visually, while moving out of the line of fire, to diagnose your malfunction. Then you can do what is needed to clear the malfunction and continue shooting. But Front Sight’s gun training is more than good. Front Sight’s gun training got me a step ahead. Because of Ignatius Piazza and my gun training instructors at Front Sight, I knew, by the way my gun shot, that the NEXT time I pressed the trigger would be a malfunction. This put me ahead of the game and gave me more time to diagnose and clear the malfunction, since I didn’t have that split second of the “OH, NO!” feeling. I actually had myself back to shooting position before some of the guys watching me realized what had happened. Now THAT is some badass gun training.
Because I was able to handle the situation at hand so swiftly, I was able to defend myself from the four attackers, having to take one of them down with a head shot, without running out of time or getting stressed. Bad guys often travel in packs, so Front Sight’s gun training for multiple attackers could really pay off if it is ever needed. How many other gun training schools will teach you that? Front Sight is the best.
Speaking of the best, Front Sight is as fun as it is educational, offering… competitive… gun training. The Chronicles of Front Sight: My Experience, Part Eight will show you just how competitive Front Sight is!

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute trained me so well. But during my first Four Day Defensive Handgun Training Course, I didn’t just learn how to shoot. I learned how to use a gun for self defense, which is more than just shooting a gun. Yes, I learned how to shoot… and, if you follow me to the end of these chronicles, you will see just how well I could shoot by the end of my first four day gun training course at Front Sight… but I also learned other self defense techniques that go into gun training.
One of these self defense techniques was learning how to diagnose and fix a gun malfunction. If you are like most people, you are probably wondering what a gun malfunction is. The first time it happened to me, I just about freaked out. My Front Sight gun training instructor quickly diagnosed the malfunction and cleared it for me, as we had not yet reached that point in our training, but he gave me a quick overview of what he was doing, probably because I was looking at him like he had just started talking in Portuguese.
So, my gun malfunctioned and I didn’t know what to do. What would have happened if I had been in the middle of a gun fight? What if someone had broken into my house and I was defending my kid, and all of a sudden my gun malfunctioned and I didn’t know what was happening? I don’t even want to think about it. As I have said before, Dr. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute prepare you for everything.
Over the next couple days, I learned the difference between every gun malfunction and how to clear each one. At the beginning of my Front Sight gun training, it took me a long time to clear each malfunction. By the last day, I could clear a Type Three Malfunction in under six seconds. I could clear a Type One in less than a second. Ignatius Piazza makes sure that his students know how to do things… and know how to do things fast.
Up until my Front Sight Night Gun Training, I had learned how to diagnose these malfunctions by sight and was pretty decent at it. But when my gun malfunctioned in the middle of the nearly pitch black shooting range, it was a totally different story. I had to completely rely on how my gun felt in order to learn that it was a Type Three. Then I had to hold my flashlight under my arm so I wouldn’t accidentally give away my location, while clearing and reloading my weapon. Talk about a real life situation right there! If it weren’t for my Front Sight gun training from Ignatius Piazza, there is no way I would have been able to do it.
Front Sight’s Night Gun Training was not only super educational, it was also one of the greatest nights I have experienced in terms of how fun it was. The whole way home, my friend and I could not stop talking about it.
So, by that point, we had learned so much about gun safety and defensive shooting, including how to clear a home invasion and how to shoot effectively in the darkness… AND what to do if you are attacked by multiple people at once. Ignatius Piazza thought of everything! So what DOES happen when you get attacked by several people at the same time? Check out The Chronicles of Front Sight: My Experience, Part Seven and find out!

I was standing in the doorway of the house with my gun training instructor from Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. I had just shot a guy (or hopefully shot a guy) that was holding a grenade at the other end of the house. Since I had been standing incorrectly in the doorway, I had no time to aim at Mr. Grenade Guy, and I just had to shoot and rely on the gun training I had received from Four Weapons Combat Master, Dr. Ignatius Piazza and his team of professional gun training instructors.
I was learning what it was like to have to enter into a home invasion scenario and save people’s lives. It was all time critical and I was learning how to utilize my Front Sight gun training in real life. After clearing the first room, shooting two bad guys so far and NOT shooting two good guys, my gun malfunctioned. Because my Front Sight gun training instructors had taught me how to diagnose and clear gun malfunctions, I was able to clear my type three malfunction in about seven seconds. (We learned more about clearing malfunctions later, and I was able to shave my time down to less than six seconds!) Upon entering the second room, I saw him: the bad guy that had a gun to my sister’s head. He started to count down, telling me that he would shoot her in five, four, three, t- BAM! I had aimed and shot.
Then it was time. I was about to see my results. Did I hit the bad guys? Had Front Sight’s gun training helped me actually shoot on target, even under the crunch of time and stress? First bad guy: I missed once, but my other shot was exactly on target. Second bad guy (Mr. Grenade Guy): Huh. Ignatius Piazza’s gun training really DOES work. From the other side of the house with no time to aim, there were two perfectly placed bullet holes in his thoracic cavity. Third bad guy (the jerk that had my sister): One bullet hole right in his face. Did I hit my sister? Nope.
Well then. I guess Front Sight’s gun training was actually helping me, the person who started out as the worst shooter in the world. I had already learned so much about guns, gun safety and gun training, besides the things I have already mentioned.
Learning how to shoot quickly and accurately in the daytime in a well lit area is challenging. But how many times will you actually need to shoot in broad daylight? The fact is, is that most attacks and robberies happen at night when visibility is low. That is why Ignatius Piazza includes night gun training in his self defense gun training courses at Front Sight. In addition to shooting in low visibility, you will learn how to hold and shine a flashlight so that you don’t give away your location. And… if you’re like me… you will have to learn how to diagnose and clear a malfunction without being able to see it, while not moving one arm because you’re hiding your flashlight in the proper place.
Come with me into my Front Sight Night Gun Training in The Chronicles of Front Sight: My Experience, Part Six.

Gun training at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute from Four Weapons Combat Master, Dr. Ignatius Piazza is more than just self defense training. In the gun training courses at Front Sight, students learn self defense, yes, but Ignatius Piazza takes it a few steps further. Guns can be an incredible tool of self defense, but there is more to it than just knowing how to shoot.
Many gun training schools will teach students how to use a gun for self defense. They may even go as far as teach you how to pick out the gun that is best for you. But do they teach how to prevent using a gun in the first place? Do they teach how to keep the people around you as safe as possible? Do they teach you everything else that goes into using a gun? Will they tell you that if you have to shoot a person as an act of self defense, you will likely have legal and emotional ramifications to face?
Founder and director of Front Sight, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, does not treat gun training like a cake walk. He does not take it lightly. He takes his gun training extremely seriously, and makes sure to train his students in EVERY aspect of the gun training world, from way before the threat even occurs to dealing with law enforcement and the judicial system to emotional side effects and familial consequences.
Many people look at a gun training school and think it is overdoing it or teaching people that guns are a cure all for crime. Front Sight is different than most gun training schools out there. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute teaches that guns should only be used in certain situations. The gun training instructors teach students HOW TO GET OUT OF USING A GUN. There are times and situations that a person can diffuse an attack through actions other than pulling out a gun. Ignatius Piazza’s gun training program at Front Sight thoroughly trains students in this area.
Front Sight also prepares students to know their limits and to know beforehand what their lines are. This means that by the time a student finishes a gun training course at Front Sight, he or she will have a better idea at what line needs to be crossed in order to present the weapon for self defense. This is an important area because should you have to use a gun, you do not want to regret it. You need to know that you are doing the right thing at the right time. Front Sight helps students reach their own personal conclusions.
After using a gun for self defense, there are things that are likely to happen. Police will probably be showing up. Front Sight teaches students how to talk to the police, how to act in order to make the questioning go as smoothly as possible, and yes, how to get arrested (because this might happen… again, you need to KNOW that using your gun was the right decision for you.) In addition to police, you may have to deal with judges and lawyers. Front Sight goes into this, as well, and teaches students how to pick a lawyer and what can be done to help you through the judicial process.
Most importantly, Front Sight emphasizes that you are going to have to live with your decisions of whether to shoot or whether to not shoot. Not only will you have to live with these decisions, your loved ones will, as well. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight take this to heart and help prepare students for the emotional consequences in several ways, including briefing students on what will likely occur mentally and during future conversations with loved ones.
Front Sight Firearms Training Institute offers more than just classes on how to use a gun. They offer the most complete gun training you can find.

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, a gun training school in Pahrump, Nevada founded by Dr. Ignatius Piazza, changed my life. About an hour outside of Las Vegas, Front Sight rests on a plot of land that spans about five hundred fifty acres. We drove down the dirt road and went through the front gates, pretty interested to see what was about to happen. I knew Front Sight was going to be cool. I had done research on it for, literally, years, and had finally made the decision to get myself out to take a Four Day Defensive Handgun Training Course. I was with a friend, and we were excited. From my research, Front Sight had appeared to be an effective gun training school that focused on gun safety, balancing shooting speed with accuracy, self defense training for real life scenarios and learning a lot while having fun. Needless to say, my expectations were pretty high.
I got my belt on and my holster strapped to my belt and then the guy helping me put my gun in my holster. I guess you could say I felt kind of cool while we walked to the lecture hall. I mean, I was a chick with a gun on my hip. But then again, I felt totally intimidated. I had never carried a gun before. I didn’t even know how to load it. We sat down in the Front Sight lecture hall. Looking around, it was apparent that we were two of the youngest people there. There was a huge variety of ages, sizes, types of look, accents, men and women… but I felt even more intimidated then, noticing that I was definitely one of the smallest females in the room.
A man got up to the front of the room and started talking. I was hooked on what he was saying. Before I knew it, the lecture was over and we were about to go to the gun training shooting range. Is it weird that I was so interested in the lecture that I wanted to stay and listen to the guy talk some more? I quickly found that that thought process became familiar, as the lectures at Front Sight are absolutely extraordinary.
Over the next few days, Ignatius Piazza’s team of gun training instructors took me from scared and apprehensive to confident and competent. They taught me anything and everything I could imagine about gun training and then taught me things I never would have even thought about. Ignatius Piazza’s curriculum at Front Sight is amazing! In just four days, I went from not even being able to load a gun to being able to diagnose and clear a type three malfunction in under six seconds. I went from not knowing how to hold a gun to being able to present my weapon faster than most of the people in my class. I went from being afraid to shoot to being able to hit a target spot on. I learned that it didn’t matter how small I am or how little experience I had previously had. I can be just as fast, just as good and just as effective with a gun as the buff, more experienced shooters. Front Sight works.
At the end of my four day gun training course at Front Sight, I thought about what I had previously learned about Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza. Let me tell you, I had HIGH EXPECATIONS. Those expectations were nothing compared to what I experienced at Front Sight. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is truly a place that you have to see to believe.

There was a poster sized paper pinned up against the wall. On that piece of paper were three people. One person was in front, and the other two were just portions of faces hiding behind the first person. We had become familiar with this picture over the last few days. It was a typical hostage situation. The person in the front was the hostage, blocking the bad guys. We stood on the firing line, ready to practice our shooting accuracy and shoot the bad guys in the head. But it was just a paper target. No problem if we missed and hit the hostage.
The gun training instructors walked down the line of students and requested some simple information. “Give me the name of someone you love.” As each student named off names, the instructors walked up to the hostage and gave them a name tag. Now it was personal. Now it was stressful. Now it was real. If we missed… This is gun training for real life.
Feeling the stress, I raised my gun. I aimed toward the outside of the bad guy’s head, fearing that I would hit my hostage… my niece. I focused on the front sight. I pressed the trigger. I felt the surprise break and remained focused on the front sight. I let my gaze shift to the hostage to see where my bullet hit but saw no hole in the bad guy’s head. Really? I didn’t even hit the paper? Frustrated, I performed an after action drill and looked back up at the target. There it was. I had missed seeing the hole because the front sight of my gun had been blocking it from my view. I had hit EXACTLY WHERE I HAD AIMED. A bit more confident, I moved my aim a little closer to the hostage. Same thing. Exactly on target. Once more, a bit closer. Exactly on target. Dang. Four days ago, I was shooting a foot away from where I had aimed. This gun training really worked.
I was at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, the greatest gun training school in the world. Founded and directed by Four Weapons Combat Master, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, Front Sight’s gun training is designed to turn you into a perfect shooter. Even if you are a complete beginner, Front Sight’s gun training will make you into something you never dreamed possible. For decades, Ignatius Piazza has studied, trained and learned the best techniques and practices that really make a difference in someone’s gun training experience. He has trained thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people how to shoot safely and effectively, even in stressful situations, like a hostage situation involving a loved one.
Front Sight goes beyond typical gun training and turns it into real life gun training… so that students emerge ready to use a gun for self defense when they need it the most… in stressful, life threatening situations. After one gun training course at Front Sight, students will be able to feel less anxiety, even in the really difficult situations, so their chances of survival or saving someone else’s life will increase. When you get your gun training at Front Sight, Ignatius Piazza will give you what you really need: gun training for the real world.

When you think about gun training, what do you think about? Many people think about things like gun safety and shooting targets on the other side of a big room. At Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, Dr. Ignatius Piazza goes beyond just teaching the basics of gun training. He does focus strongly on gun safety in his gun training courses at Front Sight, but he also teaches students many things that they normally would not think about. What do I mean when I say Ignatius Piazza teaches the things that we wouldn’t normally think about? I mean that he and his team of gun training instructors teach not only intense gun safety, but also things like night shooting and how to walk through doors.
Yes, I just said Ignatius Piazza will teach you how to walk through a door.
Well, that seems kind of trivial.
When it comes to really, really good gun training, the little things matter. The way you walk through a door can make or break it for you and your family. If there is an intruder in your house, the way you walk through a door could help you escape to safety or help you give away your location to the intruder. It can help you see where the intruder is or it can help give him a clear shot at you. Which choice do you prefer? It sounds odd; I am sure. But see the Front Sight demonstrations and you will see what I mean. Then try it for yourself with the Front Sight tactical training and see what a difference the correct technique can make.
Another thing that many people do not think about is gun training in the dark. Shooting in little to no lighting is much more difficult than shooting in broad daylight. Chances are, if you are going to be using a gun for self defense, you will likely need to be using it in the dark. So why do most gun training schools leave out the important aspect of night gun training? Front Sight definitely does not omit this idea from the gun training courses. Here is where the little things come into play again at Front Sight. If you shine a flashlight somewhere, your location is likely given away. You might as well shine the flashlight on yourself. But if you shine your flashlight the way the gun training instructors teach you to at Front Sight, if you hold your flashlight the way Ignatius Piazza shows you and if you time your movements correctly, your location can remain a secret, giving you more leverage over an intruder.
The gun training at Front Sight is big on focusing on the little things. It is these little things that will make the biggest difference in your shooting ability, speed and precision. And it is these little things that will set your shooting miles apart from the shooting of students that are trained at other gun training schools. At Front Sight, the little things count… because in self defense, you need your shots to count.

When I think about getting gun training, I think of only one place: Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. Sure, there are other gun training schools out there. But none of them match up to the quality of Front Sight. I have done research on the subjects of gun training and gun training schools. I have been shooting with friends and gotten professional gun training. I actually did research on gun training for a couple years before even picking up a handgun in a gun training course. Where did I go for my gun training? I went to Front Sight, of course. The research that I had done for the couple of years had proven to me that Front Sight was the best place to receive gun training. It not only offers the greatest quality gun training, it is the most convenient and the most cost effective for what you get from each gun training course.
Random fact that I find interesting: For anyone who has ever received any sort of gun training, the name is easy to remember. You are probably familiar with the phrase, “Never take your eye off of that Front Sight.” So, when you think of shooting, you will automatically think of the best gun training school in the world. Alternatively, for people like me, who have never received gun training, the name of Front Sight helped me immensely in my training. While holding the gun in my hands, whenever I would start to wonder what to do next, all I had to do was think about where I was: Front Sight. “Oh, yeah! Focus on the Front Sight!” BAM. Bullet hit on target.
It was amazing to me that someone with my lack of experience could have such a positive few days with Front Sight’s gun training Instructors. Founder and Director, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, designed his gun training program at Front Sight to be excellent for people who have no idea what they are doing when holding a gun. Front Sight teaches beginning shooters gun safety, shooting precision, shooting speed and much more. I can comfortably say that after attending a four day self defense gun training course from Ignatius Piazza at Front Sight, with no prior gun training, I can shoot better than many people who have been shooting guns for years. I gave a five minute gun training lesson to one of them. Now he shoots better than he did before. No kidding! Because I attended Ignatius Piazza’s gun training course, I was able to look at my friend’s target and know what he was doing wrong, tell him why he was doing it and help him fix it. Front Sight gun training for the win!
I know that there is no gun training school that can compare to Front Sight. After doing the research and attending Ignatius Piazza’s course, I have no need to go to another gun training school. You will soon know what I mean. When it comes to gun training, Front Sight will be your go-to place. It sure is mine.

Have you heard of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute?
If you have not heard of Front Sight, take a moment and google “best gun training,” “best firearms training,” or “best gun training in the world,” and see what pops up in the list of results. You will notice that Front Sight is listed over and over again. Google searches are not arbitrary. There are reasons that certain results pop up in certain places. So, it is no random occurrence that Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is always listed as the number one result, as well as being listed several other places on the results page. There are reasons that Front Sight is listed as the best.
Those of you who have attended Front Sight understand why the gun training school is ranked on top of the list of best firearms training schools in the world. Simply put, Front Sight really is the best place in the world to receive gun training of any kind. For the people who have not yet attended one of Front Sight’s self defense gun training courses, allow me to explain. Ready?
THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE LIKE FRONT SIGHT.
Founder and Director of Front Sight, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, is a Four Weapons Combat Master. He opened the gun training school in April of 1996 to spread his knowledge of the gun training world and has been working tirelessly ever since to offer the greatest gun training you can possibly hope, wish or pray for. His gun training instructors are trained diligently, tested competitively, trained some more and tested time and time again to ensure that each is the highest caliber gun training expert instructor as can be imagined.
The coursework at Front Sight is examined, tried and proven effective and safe, so students of Ignatius Piazza can be sure that what they are learning is top quality stuff. Students are amazed when they attend Ignatius Piazza’s gun training courses. Typically, the response of new students is that they did not know what they did not know… meaning that at Front Sight, even the most experienced shooters were surprised to find there is a world of information out there to which they had never once been exposed… and then Ignatius Piazza threw all this information at them, turning their brains inside out and upside down and filling them with an immense amount of knowledge.
I know when I first attended a self defense gun training course at Front Sight I was taken aback with the amount of information I received. Things that I had never even thought of were involved in my gun training. But I was new to shooting, so I had kind of expected that. But then there was this one guy in particular. He was a gun training instructor at another school… and HE was taken aback with the amount of information he received… and is now a lifetime first family member at Front Sight.
Are you ready to be blown away with knowledge and power? Front Sight is ready to give it all to you.
