The early release of prisoners throughout the United States has shocked some, outraged many and scared even more. Some people think it is a great idea. Others, such as police, prosecutors and crime victim advocates, see the downfalls and potential dangers of having inmates out on the streets, near our children’s schools and in our neighborhoods. Take Illinois, for example. The current prison population is between forty five and forty six thousand. The prison system releases prisoners and half of the inmates are taken back before three years is up. If inmates serve their entire sentences and STILL get thrown back in prison, who is to say that convicts who are released early will be wonderful and not commit more crimes as well? Supporters of the prisoners’ early release claim that the released inmates will be monitored by ankle bracelets, and therefore are less likely to commit crimes against people or the community. However, they are failing to realize that even people on electronic monitoring commit crimes. Let’s review that case of Julius Anderson. He was a sex offender and was released from prison. He was forced to wear the ankle bracelet. He committed two brutal rapes and then disappeared on August 7. Twelve days later, his case was assigned to a special agent to look for him. That’s comforting.
States have tried this tactic before. From 1989 to 2003, twenty seven thousand, six hundred sixteen prisoners were released from Illinois prisons and placed on electronic monitoring. Thirty seven percent were soon sent back to prison and nine percent absconded. Sounds like it worked back then. Yes, and eating cake will help you lose weight.

What do you think about the prisoner early release program that is being initiated throughout the United States? Several states are starting to release prisoners early, due to budget cuts. Some people think this is a great idea. Others disagree. I am one of those people who disagrees. Prisoners that get released early are likely to just mess up again, finding themselves back in the slammer and angering tax payers everywhere. Take convicted burglar, Dennis Berthold, for example. He was released early from Oregon State Correctional Institution due to a thirty percent decrease in his sentence. Two weeks later, where is he? Back in prison! Over four thousand prisoners in Oregon are eligible for a change in their ERD (earliest release date)… meaning that nearly a third of Oregon’s inmates can be let out early. This early release program is opposed by several groups, including prosecutors and crime victim advocates. It is putting fear in the minds of citizens who do not know how to handle the situation. If you are worried about the current and future release of prison inmates, take these few paragraphs to heart, because this is for you. (more…)

All over the country, prisoners are being released early due to a new prisoner early release program designed to save America money. Prisons are becoming overcrowded and America is trying to cut budget costs wherever they can. Apparently, letting prisoners out of confinement seems to be a great idea to some officials. In Florida, almost four thousand inmates are expecting to be released. This program is not supported by a variety of groups, including the Department of Corrections. Most states are claiming that only non violent prisoners are going to be released, but not all states are complying with this, which is rather frightening. When criminals get out of jail, they are usually subject to things like probation or parole, and are court ordered to attend certain correctional programs. However, these cost money, too. In addition to releasing prisoners early, many states are also cutting programs for freed inmates, such as drug rehabilitation programs and other self help courses, meaning criminals are less likely to learn the skills they need to learn to become a productive member of society. Let’s prepare ourselves by getting self defense training and gun training from the world’s greatest gun training instructors! Getting trained by the best gun training instructors at the number one gun training school is a great way to protect yourself and to protect your family from these criminals. (more…)

You have heard the horror stories about the American economy, but have you heard that the failing economy might spark an extra need for self defense training and gun training? People everywhere are paying the price with job losses, plummeting home values, skyrocketing utility bills and so much more. Money has become the focus of most, because barely anyone has any. But it is worse than you think. For example, if you live in California and are about to enroll in college, better luck next year, because the California state school system is not accepting new applicants or in state transfer students anymore. My point? My point is that states like California have cut costs in every possible area, and now they are trying to dig deeper. Not only are your bills going up, your profits going down and going to college is becoming more of a dream than a reality, now your safety is at risk. Many states are resorting to last ditch efforts to save money – even if it means putting you in danger. Look at California. California is facing a forty two billion dollar deficit. In addition, prisons have become overcrowded – so much, in fact, that a federal lawsuit has been filed against the state. The result of the California Prison Overcrowding lawsuit is that California will be required to cut the inmate population by around fifty five THOUSAND inmates. Governor Schwarzenegger is embracing this as a way to cut California’s expenses. Excuse me? And California is not the only state that is going to do this! What does that mean to you? To me, it means that there are going to be fifty five thousand more criminals walking the streets around our kids. It means there are going to be fifty five thousands more convicts close to our homes. It means, more than ever, that the person behind you in line at the grocery store could be one of those released inmates. Not okay. (more…)
