What do you do to keep yourself safe? Some people work out virtually non stop and make sure to have strong muscles and high endurance. With all of the recent news about the riots in Egypt, it puts across an interesting question. What if something like this were to happen in our country?
Let’s face it. We do not have a perfect government. As much as some people would like to think this is not true, we are not above some politician saying something unfavorable or our President doing something against our wishes. Riots have happened in America before, and they will likely happen again. Scary.
If you are a store owner or work in retail, what would you do if people started breaking windows and looting your store? If you ever walk on the sidewalk, what would you do if someone approached you and tried to rob you? If you have a home, what would you do if someone broke in and started taking your stuff? If you have a family, can you protect them? I am not trying to scare you into reading what I am writing. I am just trying to ask you some really important questions. I was asked where I got my gun training. Apparently, the girl first asked one of my guy friends about gun training. Knowing how well I shoot (all humility aside, of course) he directed her to me. I told her I got my gun training from Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. When she asked me where Front Sight was located, I told her it is about an hour away from Las Vegas in Pahrump, Nevada. She seemed a bit confused as to why I would go that far to get gun training when there are plenty of places to shoot and get trained here in California. Let me tell you, it is so easy to explain why… and the girl started her own further research on attending Front Sight.

Shooting a gun is the same during the day as it is at night, right?
It is frightening to hear how many people will actually answer this question with a strong, “Yes.” I am scared for those people to have to use a gun to defend their lives or the lives of their loved ones in the middle of the night. Using a gun at night or in low lighting is much, much different than using one in the middle of the day, or in a room where there is plenty of light. I went to a local shooting range for the first time this weekend with a fellow Front Sight student. We went to practice our trigger control and shooting speed, review together what we learned at the gun training school and help coach each other by examining our shooting techniques. The result of this trip was that the impressive power of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute was, once again, proven to us.
As Front Sight students, gun safety and proper gun handling are basically second nature to both of us. I wasn’t there for his gun training, but I know that personally, the gun training instructors at Front Sight spent hours perfecting my shooting stance, improving my trigger control and getting my bullets to hit exactly where I wanted them to. It was no surprise to me when my first two bullets hit about four millimeters from the bullseye of the target. But these other people at the range… well, they obviously did not get their “gun training” from Dr. Ignatius Piazza at Front Sight.
I guess Front Sight spoiled me. I learned every aspect of gun training from the instructors at Front Sight. It’s all normal to me now. And you know what? We were easily the best two shooters on the range.
The first thing I noticed was everyone’s shooting stance. It appalled me to see such unstable stances. The girl a few people down was literally knocked backwards every time she shot her pistol. I took a shot. Did I feel the least bit off balance? Nope. I ended my shots with my gun still pointed at my target and my focus still on the front sight. My friend commented later that nothing on me moved when I shot. Gun training at Front Sight made me stable with a strong shooting stance.
I didn’t see one person practicing proper trigger control. Fingers mashed the triggers and then completely came off of them before taking the next shot. The result? Their targets looked like they were trying to hit anywhere BUT the center. Our targets? Let’s just say if we applied the fifty percent rule, our targets would still look way better than any other target on the range, no joke. Gun training at Front Sight made my shots accurate.
The thing that actually scared me while being on the shooting range was everyone’s gun safety. Front Sight emphasizes gun safety in everything you do. This weekend, I saw people’s fingers on the trigger when they weren’t pointed at the target. I saw people holding their guns as if they were toys. I saw a husband and wife muzzle each other’s arms so they could quickly reload. After seeing this, I am even more thankful to be a student of Front Sight because Ignatius Piazza’s gun training instructors taught me how to safely handle a gun. They would never allow such nonchalant gun handling. Gun training at Front Sight made me a safe shooter.

Many people choose to practice their Second Amendment rights by owning a gun. I think this is a great thing, because I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. However, many of these people do not actually get trained in how to use their guns. They don’t get gun training because they think that owning a gun is enough. “I just own this just in case. The chances of me having to use it are so small.” “I’ve used guns for so long; I don’t need to go get professional gun training.” And my personal favorite: “If the situation called for it, I’d just know how to shoot well.”
Here’s what I say to those people. If the situation called for it, you’d be able to shoot well, eh? So, if someone had your sister in a headlock, was holding a gun to her head and was about to shoot her, you’d be able to raise your gun and shoot him, while completely missing your sister? If someone was running off, carrying your child, you’d be quickly able to stop him? If someone broke into your room in the middle of the night and pointed a gun at you in the darkness, you’d be able to beat him to the shot, even though you aren’t even holding your gun yet and can barely see him? The stress of any of these situations is going to greatly inhibit your shooting ability, not increase it. You are likely to miss your target, if you even get a shot at all. You can help improve your chances of escaping any of these life threatening situations, as well as others, by getting the gun training that can make you a perfect shooter.
