Several States Await Change

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Senate Bill 22 will change Ohio. In addition to releasing thousands of prisoners early, the bill is proposing changes to the state system. Felony theft will no longer be a theft of $500, but rather a theft of $1,000. Inmates currently receive credit for enrolling in prison programs. They receive one day per month they are enrolled. This will change to five days per month – meaning their ERD date will be much earlier. Less people will go to prison and more inmates will be released from prison. Yet still, some supporters are saying this is “smart on crime.” What? How is reducing prison sentences “smart” on reducing crime? Say you are on your way to the bank to get a money order for your rent. You’ve got $900 in cash in your pocket. Someone approaches you and takes that money. It will just be a misdemeanor? Really? If a person gets sentenced to ten years in prison, how is it safe or productive to have them released a few years before that sentence is up? I agree that some inmates have learned their lesson and will not repeat a crime. However, the statistics show that many released prisoners just end up going back for one reason or another. Why would America’s lawmakers want to put the law abiding citizens at risk?

As of now, this early release of prisoners has already begun. Several states are choosing to enact this plan in order to save money in a trying time. So what are we, the people that don’t break laws, supposed to do? We have families to protect. We have homes to secure. We have our own lives to guard. The best way to do this is by getting gun training from Dr. Ignatius Piazza at his gun training school in Nevada, called Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. Front Sight offers top quality gun training courses, such as defensive handgun training, shotgun training and rifle training. Ignatius Piazza even offers an automatic weapons training course! In addition to these self defense gun training courses, Front Sight also offers a CCW Permit training course, so that you can get your Concealed Carry Weapons Permit and be able to carry a concealed weapon with you to most places. Unfortunately, there are places that do not allow you to carry a weapon, like schools and airplanes, but Front Sight’s gun training courses have that covered, too. Ignatius Piazza will teach you how to use your own body as a weapon, showing you how to protect yourself and protect your family even if you happen to be in one of these places! Literally, Ignatius Piazza’s gun training courses at Front Sight leave nothing out! You will learn gun safety, how to use a gun for self defense, how and when to use a gun safely and effectively and much, much more. In one weekend at Front Sight in one of Ignatius Piazza’s self defense gun training courses or combat gun training courses, you will find yourself feeling much more confident and comfortable with the new laws that release prisoners early.

Inmates Are Out – Get To Front Sight

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

The early release of prisoners throughout the United States has shocked some, outraged many and scared even more. Some people think it is a great idea. Others, such as police, prosecutors and crime victim advocates, see the downfalls and potential dangers of having inmates out on the streets, near our children’s schools and in our neighborhoods. Take Illinois, for example. The current prison population is between forty five and forty six thousand. The prison system releases prisoners and half of the inmates are taken back before three years is up. If inmates serve their entire sentences and STILL get thrown back in prison, who is to say that convicts who are released early will be wonderful and not commit more crimes as well? Supporters of the prisoners’ early release claim that the released inmates will be monitored by ankle bracelets, and therefore are less likely to commit crimes against people or the community. However, they are failing to realize that even people on electronic monitoring commit crimes. Let’s review that case of Julius Anderson. He was a sex offender and was released from prison. He was forced to wear the ankle bracelet. He committed two brutal rapes and then disappeared on August 7. Twelve days later, his case was assigned to a special agent to look for him. That’s comforting.

States have tried this tactic before. From 1989 to 2003, twenty seven thousand, six hundred sixteen prisoners were released from Illinois prisons and placed on electronic monitoring. Thirty seven percent were soon sent back to prison and nine percent absconded. Sounds like it worked back then. Yes, and eating cake will help you lose weight.
