Front Sight Firearms Training Institute trained me so well. But during my first Four Day Defensive Handgun Training Course, I didn’t just learn how to shoot. I learned how to use a gun for self defense, which is more than just shooting a gun. Yes, I learned how to shoot… and, if you follow me to the end of these chronicles, you will see just how well I could shoot by the end of my first four day gun training course at Front Sight… but I also learned other self defense techniques that go into gun training.
One of these self defense techniques was learning how to diagnose and fix a gun malfunction. If you are like most people, you are probably wondering what a gun malfunction is. The first time it happened to me, I just about freaked out. My Front Sight gun training instructor quickly diagnosed the malfunction and cleared it for me, as we had not yet reached that point in our training, but he gave me a quick overview of what he was doing, probably because I was looking at him like he had just started talking in Portuguese.
So, my gun malfunctioned and I didn’t know what to do. What would have happened if I had been in the middle of a gun fight? What if someone had broken into my house and I was defending my kid, and all of a sudden my gun malfunctioned and I didn’t know what was happening? I don’t even want to think about it. As I have said before, Dr. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute prepare you for everything.
Over the next couple days, I learned the difference between every gun malfunction and how to clear each one. At the beginning of my Front Sight gun training, it took me a long time to clear each malfunction. By the last day, I could clear a Type Three Malfunction in under six seconds. I could clear a Type One in less than a second. Ignatius Piazza makes sure that his students know how to do things… and know how to do things fast.
Up until my Front Sight Night Gun Training, I had learned how to diagnose these malfunctions by sight and was pretty decent at it. But when my gun malfunctioned in the middle of the nearly pitch black shooting range, it was a totally different story. I had to completely rely on how my gun felt in order to learn that it was a Type Three. Then I had to hold my flashlight under my arm so I wouldn’t accidentally give away my location, while clearing and reloading my weapon. Talk about a real life situation right there! If it weren’t for my Front Sight gun training from Ignatius Piazza, there is no way I would have been able to do it.
Front Sight’s Night Gun Training was not only super educational, it was also one of the greatest nights I have experienced in terms of how fun it was. The whole way home, my friend and I could not stop talking about it.
So, by that point, we had learned so much about gun safety and defensive shooting, including how to clear a home invasion and how to shoot effectively in the darkness… AND what to do if you are attacked by multiple people at once. Ignatius Piazza thought of everything! So what DOES happen when you get attacked by several people at the same time? Check out The Chronicles of Front Sight: My Experience, Part Seven and find out!

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, the huge gun training school in Pahrump, Nevada, provides the best quality gun training, knife training and empty hands self defense training that money can buy. Dr. Ignatius Piazza, the man who created it all, is set on giving students more bang for their buck… quite literally.
You have probably heard the phrase, “Practice Makes Perfect.” Well… that is only partly true. If you are not practicing correct techniques during your practice time, then you could be hurting yourself in the long run. The truth is that Perfect Practice Makes Perfect. Ignatius Piazza promises all of his students: perfect practice is just what you will get at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.
The gun training instructors at Front Sight will tell you, “We are not here to make you good shooters. We are here to make you PERFECT shooters.” So how do they accomplish this? First, they teach perfect technique. They tell you what the techniques are. They show you what the techniques are. Then they help you master those techniques during dry practice. After that, they help you master those techniques during firing drills. They even help you help OTHER STUDENTS perfect THEIR technique. They come at you from every angle with education so you can be sure you are not missing anything. The result is that perfect practice that you need. But there is more to perfecting your shooting than just perfect practice.
When you attend Front Sight for any gun training course, one of the things you will look forward to hearing every day is how much ammunition you will need for the next day’s exercises. Don’t be surprised when you hear, “You will need about one hundred fifty rounds tomorrow… for before lunch.” Ignatius Piazza designed his gun training program at Front Sight to actually teach you how to shoot perfectly. How is this going to happen if you get to shoot fifty to a hundred rounds, like they have you do at other gun training schools? At Front Sight, you will be shooting A LOT because Ignatius Piazza wants you to get in all of the perfect practice that you need in a safe and controlled environment so you will be better prepared if you must use a gun for self defense off the range in real life.
I know I have been using the word “perfect” quite a bit today. It may seem redundant or like I’m trying too hard to make a point. But please, believe me when I say that it is not for emphasis. It is because there are few words that actually equate to the word “perfect.” You can describe something as excellent, really good, amazing, incredible, outstanding, super, or whatever your favorite positively charged adjective is. But really, you get nothing less than perfection at Front Sight. The gun training you will receive from Ignatius Piazza is not just really good. It’s not just excellent. It is perfect. Because only perfect practice makes perfect, and Ignatius Piazza wants to make you a perfect shooter.

Different types of learning styles can greatly affect the way someone learns information. People typically learn in one of three different ways: By Hearing (auditory), By Seeing (visual), or By Doing (kinesthetic). Say two people listen to the same lecture. If one of those people is an auditory learner and one is a kinesthetic learner, the auditory learner is going to get more out of the lecture than the other person. Dr. Ignatius Piazza has made it easy for anyone who wants to get gun training to learn and actually absorb the information, regardless of anyone’s learning style. This means that when you decide you want to get gun training, it doesn’t matter how you learn best, because Ignatius Piazza has tailored his gun training school to cater to everyone.
Front Sight Firearms Training Institute’s gun training instructors please auditory learners by providing awesome lectures on gun safety, how to use a gun, shooting stance and many other aspects of firearms training. The lectures are thorough and really concentrate on getting the information presented in a way everyday people can understand. (Meaning you do not have to know everything about guns to understand the lectures!) If you are a person that zones out easily during lectures, do not worry! Front Sight’s lectures are captivating and will keep your attention. The gun training instructors at Front Sight are highly trained not only in shooting technique, but also teaching technique. Even if you are like me and have an attention span of roughly six seconds, the gun training lectures at Front Sight will keep you engaged.
Maybe you want to get gun training but are a visual learner. For these people, hearing the information is great, but does not do much. Front Sight instructors demonstrate every technique in an informative and entertaining manner. Now that you have heard the proper way to handle a gun, it is time for you to see it. Instructors will show you things like exactly how to hold your gun, how to stand while prepping to shoot and how to accurately aim. You will get to see the shooting process in action, helping your mind retain the information.
Then there are people like me: kinesthetic learners. Telling me how to do something or showing me how to do something is somewhat helpful, but chances are, I will forget the information shortly. I learn best by doing. Ignatius Piazza created a hands on tactical gun training portion of his firearms training program to accommodate kinesthetic learners. Here, students learn by actually shooting guns hundreds of times. They also get to act out real life scenarios, such as robberies or muggings, so they will be better equipped to defend themselves outside of the gun training school.
Front Sight’s gun training program layers all three aspects in a precise manner, so that students can best retain what they learn. People who have attended Front Sight will agree that they learned quickly and easily and then actually remembered the stuff they learned. Whichever learning style best suits you is great. You will find it at Front Sight.
