Dear Dr. Piazza:
… the angel answered, “Your prayers
and gifts to the poor
have come up as a memory offering before God.” Acts
10:4
On behalf of over 4,000 homeless men given free
shelters, meals, clothing and encouragement here
last year, I would like to take this opportunity
to acknowledge with deep gratitude your donation.
I certify that no goods or services were given
in exchange for the generous gift and sign this
letter as your official tax receipt.
Since 1954, the Open Door Mission has helped meet
the shelter, food, clothing and spiritual needs
of the homeless in Houston. Compassion and support
from the community, such as this gift, make it
possible for us to continue this tradition of caring.
Your generous gift will empower us to help make
a difference in the lives of men seeking hope through
recovery, discipleship and veterans programs at
the Mission. We focus on root causes of homelessness,
like alcoholism, substance abuse, inadequate education
and recovery from medical and mental health problems.
We encourage men to hold strong, Christian moral
and spiritual values.
Your caring support helps insure that the men
served by the Open Door Mission are able to experience
and celebrate new hope in their lives.
Open Door Mission does not accept funds from the
government or United Way. We are totally dependent
on private sector gifts, from foundations, corporations,
churches and individuals, to get this great work
done.
We hope you have a chance to take a look at our
Mission website at www.opendoorhouston.org.
May the Lord richly bless you,
Richard H. Hill, Jr.
