Since 1994, RAINN has touched the lives of millions of Americans.

· To date, more than 600,000 American have received free, confidential counseling through the National Sexual Assault Hotline.

· Additionally, more than 120 million Americans each year receive vital information about sexual assault prevention, prosecution and recovery, thanks to RAINN’s public service ads, curriculum programs, one-on one outreach and close cooperation with media. Innovative partnerships allow RAINN to maximize public education while minimizing costs.

Still, there is much work to do. According to data from the U.S. Department of Justice, only one rape in twenty results in a jail sentence. And, due to the tight local law enforcement budgets, DNA evidence from 350,000 rape cases is sitting, untouched, on shelves awaiting analysis. As the evidence sits, rapists roam free. RAINN is working hard on both these issues.

RAINN receives no government funding; we rely entirely on contributions like yours. More than 87 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to helping victims of sexual assaults, making RAINN one of the most efficient non-profit organizations in America. And, it’s one of the reasons Worth Magazine selected RAINN as one of “Americas 100 Best Charities” (12/01).
